Certified Financial Planner™
James holds the Certified Financial Planner™ designation, awarded by the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI). It’s the only globally recognised mark of excellence in financial planning and awarded to financial advisors at the pinnacle of the profession, who’ve completed a detailed assessment of their skills and knowledge and demonstrated that they’ve got the right experience, education and ethical approach. Less than 2% of financial advisors in the UK have received this designation.
James holds the Diploma in Financial Advice (DipFA), awarded by the Chartered Insurance Institute .The DipFA is an industry benchmark qualification for financial advisors, which meets the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) qualification requirement for retail investment advisors. Highly relevant and practical, the qualification is tailored to reflect the Independent Financial Advisor (IFA) role.
James holds the Certificate in Mortgage Advice (CeMAP), awarded by the London Institute of Banking & Finance. The CeMAP is the industry benchmark qualification awarded to mortgage advisers, allowing them to advise on mortgages.
James started his career working for one of the largest financial advisory firms in the UK. He gained experience advising private clients on a number of complex financial matters and soon established himself as one of the groups leading young financial advisers.
After several years working for a large organisation, James decided to leave the corporate world to ply his trade for a smaller, independent financial advice practice. He continued to help a diverse range of clients across the South West & London with all aspects of their financial planning and developed particular expertise in pension advice and investment planning.
During this time, James became one of the few advisers in the UK to attain the Certified Financial Planner™ qualification, the hallmark of excellence in the financial planning profession.
As time went by, James felt there was a better way to deliver financial advice. One that helped people make sense of their finances without the confusing jargon or eye-watering charges. One that was approachable, reliable and accessible – not just reserved for the super-wealthy.
James decided to launch Frazer James Financial Advisors – a company dedicated to going ‘above and beyond’ for every client. On a day-to-day basis, James advises busy professionals on how to make the most of their money. His area of expertise includes retirement planning, tax mitigation, pension options and investing for the future.
Outside of the office, James can often be found on the rugby pitch, despite claiming he’s now too old for it. Or, alternatively, enjoys spending time with family and good friends. With an honours degree in materials engineering, he also enjoys learning about all things technology and innovation.
James' professional highlights
James's proudest moment as a Financial Planner was
Setting up Frazer James to deliver independent financial advice in a more helpful and meaningful way; with a true focus on adding value to our clients’ lives.
The three things James loves most about his job are
1. Getting to really know and understand people. Understanding how they got to where they are today, creating a vision for where they want to be and then creating a plan to help them get there.
2. Being a trusted independent financial advisor. People entrust us with their financial security & futures. I find that an immense privilege.
3. Simplifying the complex. There is a huge amount of complexity in the world of finance and being able to distil it into ‘need to knows’ for people to understand is great.
The types of people James most enjoys working with are:
People who want to find a balance between living life today and keeping an eye on the future.
All of our clients are friendly, interesting people with a good story and don’t take themselves too seriously.
