Questions about how we work
Do I need to live near Bristol to work with you?
No. Over 95% of our meetings happen online and we advise clients from Cornwall to Scotland. Where you live affects almost nothing about the advice. There is one exception. If you live in Wales or Scotland, different income tax rates may apply to your earnings, and we account for that.
Can I meet you in person?
Yes, at Square Works, 17-18 Berkeley Square, Bristol BS8 1HB. Some clients come once at the start and then work with us by video. Others prefer to sit down every time. Both are fine.
How often will we speak?
Most clients have a formal review once a year. In between, we talk whenever something changes: a bonus, a sale, an inheritance, or a decision about when to stop working. The reviews are scheduled. The conversations in between are not, and you do not pay by the hour for them.
What does financial advice cost?
The first meeting is free. There are no upfront, planning or set-up fees. Ongoing advice costs up to 0.90% a year, with a minimum fee of £3,000 a year. See our fees.
Are you independent?
Yes. Frazer James Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. We advise on a whole-of-market basis, across the full range of providers and products rather than a panel, and we take no commission on investment recommendations.
Is advice by video as good as meeting in person?
In our experience it is better for most of the work. Sharing a screen beats reading upside down across a desk, and meetings are easier to arrange, so reviews actually happen.
How do I check you are authorised?
Search the Financial Services Register on the FCA website. It shows what a firm is permitted to do. It is worth checking for any adviser you speak to.
